Bootsy Collins - “Tha Funk Capital of the World”

Bootsy lives in my hometown of Cincinnati, OH. I was driving down the highway once when a pimped out Escalade drove by with a license plate that said “BOOTSY” drove past me. I feel like I have met him before because of it.

This album was fun as hell! Super uplifting too, I didn’t expect that. TONS of cameos. Snoop Dog, Al Sharpton, Sam Jackson (AKA Sammy J), Buckethead, George Clinton, Sheila E., Ice Cube, Chuck D, and many more. The positive message of the album is what stood out the most. Following your dreams, and generally keeping the funk alive. What is the funk? It’s what ever you want it to be. I think it’s keeping true to yourself. No matter how weird others may perceive you, or different, or funny, stay true. You will attract those who like you as you are. It’s something different to everyone.

Grade: On the One!!
